Point of Origin Acupuncture and Herbal Clinic is dedicated to providing quality, natural healthcare. We focus on women’s health, hormone regulation, pain, anxiety issues, and fertility challenges.Through the use of acupuncture and herbs almost any condition and syndrome can be treated. At Point of Origin we offer specialized individual care. Acupuncture is an ancient method of treatment based on thousands of years experience. It helps relieve signs and symptoms of many health problems. Oriental Medicine is about maintaining harmony and balance. Achieving the best you can be or restoring your strength is our ultimate goal.

About Coleen | DAOM, L.Ac., Dip.OM (NCCAOM), FABORM

Coleen Smith began her career as a Registered Nurse (RN) and has been practicing nursing since 1986. She earned her Master’s degree in Oriental Medicine from the American College of Acupuncture in Houston and completed advanced clinical training at both Hang Zhou Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital and Tian Jin Acupuncture Hospital in China.

She is nationally certified in Oriental Medicine by the NCCAOM and has been a Board-Certified Fellow of the Acupuncture and TCM Board of Reproductive Medicine (ABORM) since 2008. She currently serves as President of ABORM, an international organization dedicated to raising the standard of care in integrative reproductive medicine. Under her leadership, ABORM champions the vision that:
“Acupuncture offers unique benefits in fertility care—helping to reduce stress, increase patient satisfaction, and provide meaningful emotional and physical support through one of life’s most personal and challenging journeys.”

In 2012, Coleen received her Doctorate in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM) from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in San Francisco, with a specialization in pain management and women’s health.

Coleen is a recognized leader in the field of integrative reproductive medicine. She is the co-founder of the Complementary and Integrative Medicine Special Interest Group (CIM SIG) within the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), and has remained actively involved since its inception—speaking multiple times at ASRM’s national meetings.

Most recently, Coleen was honored to speak at the World TCM Congress in Rothenburg, Germany, sharing clinical insights on integrative fertility care on an international stage.

Coleen is the founder and clinical director of a thriving women’s health clinic, where she leads a team of three experienced practitioners. Together, they provide comprehensive, evidence-based fertility and hormonal health support to women, men, and couples.

Known for her compassionate and collaborative approach, Coleen draws from both Eastern and Western modalities to support individuals navigating fertility challenges, hormonal imbalances, and complex gynecological conditions. Her care is personalized, research-informed, and rooted in nearly four decades of health care experience.

Johanna Butler | L.Ac., DACM

Johanna Butler is a licensed acupuncturist and Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine with a clinical focus on women’s health, fertility, pregnancy, and postpartum care. Originally from Colombia, she is fluent in both English and Spanish and brings a warm, compassionate, and culturally sensitive approach to her practice.

She earned both her Master’s and Doctorate from the American College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Houston, TX. Her doctoral research explored the classical formula Shou Tai Wan and its application in cases of threatened miscarriage, reflecting her commitment to integrative reproductive medicine.

Johanna integrates acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, and nutritional therapy to support each patient’s unique health needs, promoting balance and long-term well-being. Her care is grounded in deep listening and a personalized, whole-body approach to healing.

In addition to reproductive care, she also treats musculoskeletal pain, digestive concerns, and emotional imbalances. Johanna offers cosmetic acupuncture and microneedling for natural facial rejuvenation.

Outside the clinic, she enjoys spending time in nature, exploring new places, and cuddling with her dog, Luna.
